We did it!

We got the first of two vaccination shots yesterday. We have been registered with the DOH FL and been receiving notifications telling us where shots were available in Lake county on a first come first serve basis. Jan. 11th we received a notification that scheduled appointments were available. As fast as I could make my fingers go I signed us both up and got appointments for Jan 12 at 4:20 and 4:40 pm. We expected a drive through situation. Nope. We had to wait in line outdoors (it was quite chilly) and were taken by appointment time. The process went smoothly and took about an hour and a half start to finish. Obviously some issues like what if you can’t stand a long time or what if it was raining? This was the first day of appointments so they have some fine tuning to do. We got the Moderna vaccine with our second dose to follow on Feb 10. They gave us a card with the vaccine info in it and instructions to bring the card to the second dose. It was suggested we get it laminated after that.

We are looking forward to heading north in our travel camper and visiting loved ones we haven’t seen in a year or more.

Hello!

Woke up to cool temps 64 this am. Hurray!!!! It’s been a long hot summer. On July 2 Vic fell down the steps right outside our camper and tore the tendons on his left knee. He’s been recovering from that ever since. He’s pretty much good to go now and soon we will be back to our birding adventures. Stay tuned for some bird photos 😊. Here’s a recent photo of Zoe, our Shih Tzu.

Green Water Boat Tour

We were lucky enough to find Capt. Mike and took a 3 hour private boat tour off Marco Island in an area called Ten Thousand Islands. We asked for an emphasis on birding. Usually he does shelling tours and dolphin/manatee sightings but he did know a lot about birds. We enjoyed his company and I would love to go out again. We saw magnificent frigate, skimmers, shore birds and much more.
