We have lights strung everywhere with a red, white and blue theme. This is our blue and white tree. Isn’t it a beauty?

I finally made it up early enough for the sunrise and is it a beauty! We have to be out by 9 am. Our cars are mostly packed already. Hoping for a smooth ride home to West Jefferson NC. It sure was great seeing everyone – Charlotte, Kathi, Geri, Janet, Patty, Roz, Sherry, and Carol. If anyone reading this blog is curious about where we are, google 72 Parker lane, Pawleys Island, S.C. its a private home that is rented part of the year. (Owned by Kathi’s ex-boss) he is a very generous man who still lets her have it for a week some years. We don’t ever count on the next time but when it comes around we sure do appreciate it.

3 of the ladies jumped into the pool this morning after their walk on the beach.

Roz cooked dinner tonight, homemade spaghetti sauce – so delicious!
Back row L to R: Carol, Sally, Sherry, Geri, Charlotte, Patty
Front row L to R: Janet and Kathi !

Spending a week here with friends including Kathi Kaminsky. Her former boss owns this luxurious vacation home and let her have it for a week. We are all friends, former co-workers or related to Kathi. (Girls only) we take turns with cooking and cleanup. It’s absolutely heaven, luxury with ultimate comfort.

I enjoyed seeing my friends today from my ex-job. We met at Joe Theismans in Alexandria VA. It was great to catch up, I have missed you all.
We drove through Viera Wetlands yesterday with Ralph, Victor’s brother). Following are photos of yesterday’s sightings. We had described the Purple Gillinule (we call it purple guacamole (haha) and he knew we’ve been looking for it for some weeks now. Ralph spotted this bird! I jumped out of the car and got in a good place and got a couple of great shots. Read to the end… there’s more.

Victor got this Anhinga spearing a fish and swallowing it. Talk about an arresting photo!

Nothing special about these birds but I love the reflections and the one in the middle flapping his/her wings. (My picture) took this on gator creek road near Merritt Island NWR.

Victor spotted this green Heron yesterday. The bird was crouched in a blade of grass at the water’s edge and so focused on his prey (a minnow) that Victor was able to get extremely close and get these pictures. I was there too but could not get a clear shot with all the reeds blowing around.

I took this photo with my cell phone this morning while on Hall Road in the campground. This is a Florida Scrub Jay. I thought the background was cool, I love the braided effect of the bark on the palm tree.
