Barred Owls can be dangerous

Having an exciting day. We were trying to get barred owls flying, using a call to get their attention. We got their attention all right. One of them flew at me, passed just inches over my head. That was the warning shot if I had realized. Later he flew right at me again only this time his claws got me. I was lucky he missed my eye. Probably only because the camera was up covering my right eye. Also fortunately little Zoe was in the truck out of harm’s way.

He got me above my hairline in addition to the scratches you see.

The attack shook me up pretty good but I’m OK. Cleaned the scratches and I’m good as new.

We didn’t think they had a nest, never heard any babies but possibly …

Glad u are OK sorry the owl attacked….also glad little Zoe was not in arms way…been enjoying the photos especially the eagles I like my dad did love eagles.but I love all birds my grandfather once someone asked if he could come back what would he come back as he responded he’d come back as a bird because they are so free:) so every time I see a bird or many birds I think of my grandfather…so I get love of birds from him…keep the photos coming I really enjoy seeing them..glad u n Vic n Zoe are OK:) from Wendy Howard
