Vic took this and joking calls it a “rare Mohican Osprey”. The fish he’s eating is huge!! We love the way his feathers are fluffed up.

Back home, back to birding
We’ve seen some beautiful Egrets lately. I want to share these with you.
These are great Egrets. The ones with the green highlighting their eyes are in breeding plumage.

we call this pose “”checking under the hood”

These are Snowy Egret, nicknamed “golden slippers”.

(above) This is my favorite photo – look at how beautiful the tail feathers are.

You can clearly see the green at his eye on this one. These birds are so beautiful, hope you enjoyed them!
Virginia visit
I spent last week in Virginia, enjoyed seeing my family. The drudgery was finishing emptying my house and organizing painters, landscaping, etc to put it up for sale. A big shout out to Christopher Ball, my son in law. He helped me all week, hiring a helper, driving the U-Haul, making deliveries to Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill, and the rest to his house for me to go through and winnow down. He dedicated much of his time last time to help me however I needed it. I am very grateful for his help. I lived there for almost 30 years so part of me is sad but mostly I’m very happy to be free of that burden. Another shout out goes to my daughter Kelly Ball, who also helped me in so many ways including driving my Honda to FL with a little U-Haul carrying my precious sewing table and other quilting gear down here.
I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the play put on by the 5th and 6th graders at Ian’s school. Ian worked behind the scenes on the production. I enjoyed it very much.
Another one of the fun times was reading Bode some bedtime stories. Turns out Bode is a fan of Lowly Worm, one of Richard Scarry’s characters, as I am.

I stayed the night at Bode’s House, ate breakfast with him this morning and helped him put his shoes and socks on. He put the shoes on himself. Here he is demonstrating how he does it. 😊

Spent most of today with my grandsons. They are 12 and 3 and 1/2. Here we are goofing around outside at my daughter’s house.

Purple Gallinule
One of the prettiest birds I’ve seen. This photo is from last year, not sure which of us took it. Check out those yellow legs!

Eagles
This is from last weekend when we went to Kissimmee. There are two babies but you can’t see them very well.

Purple Gallinule
A gator was chasing this gallinule and to get to safety he jumped up onto the reeds. You can really see his yellow feet. From last year at Viera Wetlands. Vic is using Lightroom instead of pic monkey and the colors are so much better. We thought it was a second look.

This painted bunting is from last year too.

Crested Caracara
Victor took these last year on our first visit to Joe Overstreet boat landing (where they have airboat rides) and where there are several eagle nests in the area. Anyways, this is a pretty bird and I love the poses.

Family visit
My daughter Kelly is visiting for a few days! Yay! Today we took her to the 10 mile wildlife drive in Apopka where we saw an excellent representation of birds living there including several she had never seen like a green heron and glossy ibis. It had rained hard for several hours earlier in the day so the birds were out looking for food. Kelly brought her binoculars and enjoyed the ride.
