Eagles

Oct 24, 2026

This is a sequence rarely seen and even more rarely filmed.

We were on Joe Overstreet when we saw an eagle fly over to a fence post about 200 yards away from us. (Good thing we have long lens!). He was joined by his mate and they flew around in an aerial courtship. Then they went back to the fence post and mated. Afterwards the female dropped down into the high grass where her movements were obscured. We couldn’t make out what she was doing but it seemed like she was catching and killing a mole or something. Nope, she reappeared with a clump of grass and twigs. The mating was successful and she was gathering nesting material.

We think they will use a nest nearby which is unfortunately on the back side of a tree.

We had an amazing time photographing today’s adventure.

Hope you enjoyed.

Stay safe. XO
