Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge (yesterday)
We visited the wildlife refuge yesterday afternoon with a new zoom lens. Victor liked it fine but I found it too heavy and awkward so I switched back to the zoom lens that came with the camera. We are in a learning curve… having so much fun!
The town of West Jefferson, NC
This little town is so adorable! We walked up and down the Main Street today. It is lined with cute shops, some with handmade crafts like baskets and colorful wool socks, antique shops, book store, etc. the main reason we went into town was to check out a balsamic and wine tasting place, hoping to find fig balsamic. Their fig balsamic was made with mission figs. I liked it but Victor did not. We are on our second to last bottle and may have to order it from the Olio store in Alexandria VA. We put it on cooked rice and love it. We had lunch at Sweet and Savory where we had a Reuben sandwich and roasted red pepper soup that was so tasty we got some to go for later. I made grilled sandwiches with soup
for dinner, yum 😋.
Dylan is a scamp

Our camper is so happy to be here 😊. There are many permanent sites here, here is one sweet set up.

I took a walk this morning and found a pond on the campgrounds.

Hoisting the Marine Corp flag

Exploring Boone NC. Cute produce place – delicious tomatoes but the $11 bag of peaches was an epic disappointment.

Sightseeing along the Blue Ridge Parkway in NC with Victor’s brother Ralph

Our friend Ben and his dog, Dylan, a very cuddly labradoodle. Relaxing at Greenfield Campground, West Jefferson, NC. We will be here until Oct 3.
